Connections
Introduction to Pico-Link
All Pico GFX-70 units have Pico-Link terminals. The Pico-Link is designed
for eight stations.
Using the Pico-Link you can:
Process additional inputs and outputs.
Implement faster and improved control using decentralized
programs.
Synchronize date and time
Read and write inputs and outputs.
Send values to other stations.
Receive values from other stations.
Load programs from or to any station.
The Pico-Link is based on the CAN network (Controller Area Network).
CAN is specified by the ISO 11898 standard. CAN has the following in-built
features:
Message oriented transmission protocol.
Multimaster bus access capabilities with non-destructive bit-wise
bus arbitration via priority messaging (Arbitration: An instance
which defines which hardware can use the bus next).
Multicast broadcast messaging with receiver side message
filtering.
High level of real-time capability (short reaction time for high
priority messages, short fault message get times).
Functionality in environments with severe interference (short
block lengths).
High level of error security.
