In-process Dresser
Chapter 21
21-10
This Parameter:
(paramacro system parameter)
Range:Indicates:
* DRESSER AMOUNT PER REV
(paramacro #5505)
theamount thedresseristofeed intothe grinding wheel foreach
revolution ofthe grinding wheel. W hen thein-processdresseris
active,this amountof infeedis subtracted fromthe“CurrentWheel
Diameter at eachwheelrevolution. This is actuallythedresseraxis
feedrate (in feed perrev)when itisdressing thewheel.

* DRESSER RETRACT DISTANCE
(paramacro #5506)
thedistancethedresserroll should retractawayfromthegrinding
wheel when thein-processdresserisdeactivated. When in-process
dressingis re-activated,thedresserrollautomaticallyperforms a
retractreturnequaltothe amountof thedresser retractdistance.Ifthe
dresseris notcurrentlyretracted when the in-processdresseris
enabled,the controldoes not performtheretract return (asis the case
when afteradressercalibration operation). The dresserretractor
retractreturncan also be performed on requestwhen in thedresser
hold state. Both ofthese movesare performed on thedresseraxis.

* DRESSER SURF SPEED RATIO
(paramacro #5507)
theratio ofthe wheel’ssurfacespeed totheroll dressersurface
speed. A ratioof 1.00wouldrotatethe dresserand the wheel atthe
samerelativesurface speed. A ratioof0.50 would rotate thedresser
atone half the surface speed ofthewheel. A ratioof 1.50would
rotate the dresserat one and one-halftimesthe surfacespeed ofthe
wheel. Surfacespeed of thewheeliscontrolledthrough yourpart
programand CSS. Surfacespeed oftheroll dresseris controlled
throughPAL and calculated fromthe“DresserRoll Diameter”,
“DresserSurface Speed Ratio”,and the currentsurfacespeedof the
grindingwheel. The sign of thisparameterindicatesthe directionthat
thedresserwill rotaterelativetothe grindingwheel: “+”equalsthe
samedirectionand --equalsthe oppositedirection.

* This parameter can be configured by the operator on this screen. Other parameters are assigned by the control or PAL during calibration or dressing.
Entering In-process Dresser Parameters
This section covers entering parameter values into t he in-process dresser
table manually. You can also enter values in this table through
programming with paramacro system parameters (#5500-#5509). See
chapter 20 for details on assigning values to system parameters.
